How To Build Link Popularity Immediately
September 23rd, 2008 by Adam
Link popularity is important to your website receiving the maximum amount of traffic. This is because the search engines, like Google, Yahoo and MSN look for other websites linking to your website to help determine how popular your website is. The more outside websites that link to your website, the higher your link popularity is and therefore the more traffic you will receive from the search engines. It’s pretty easy to start building your backlinks. And, you can even find free methods to do so, like the one detailed below. Of course, there are paid methods as well. But if you are just getting started, it’s a good idea to do it on your own at first to get used to how things work.
I love to use blogs to help build my backlinks and link popularity. There are literally millions of blogs out there, so you’re sure to find something on your topic. What’s more, you can get started immediately.
Go to Google’s blog search and simply enter in a term related to your site. You’ll receive a list of blog posts about the topic you entered. You’ll next visit these sites.
Most blogs have an option to leave a comment after their articles. You will read the article and ensure that it is, in fact, about your topic. Then you will leave a comment on the article.
After hitting the “Comments” button, you’ll usually find 3 sections to fill out. They want your name, your website address and your email. It’s important that the website address field is filled out completely, since that’s how you’ll make that blog link back to you.
Next you leave your comment in the larger text box. You’ll not want to “spam” the site by leaving what is basically a promotional message for your own site. If you do that, the blog owner will probably mark it as “Spam” and it will disappear.
Ensure that whatever comment you leave, it’s relevant and useful. Read their article and if you have another point to add, do so. You can also ask a question or compliment the blog author.
Then you hit “Submit.” A lot of blogs will make your comment immediately appear and you’ll get your backlink right away. But in these days of SPAM, some blogs to make the blog owner personally approve the comment. If this is the case, you’ll probably get a notice that your comment is waiting for approval.
Once you’re done with your comment, get back to Google’s Blog Search and find all the other entries on your niche. Then leave comments on ALL of them. The more places you leave comments, the more links you are getting in return, which will increase your own traffic.
This is simple enough for even the most beginning internet marketer to do. What’s more, if you do it on a fairly repetitive schedule, your links will build slowly over time. All the while increasing your rank.
